The Cornwall Arts Development Committee established the Cornwall Gallery Society in 1980 as a direct result of a stimulative investigation.
The Society’s prime commitment was the establishment of a permanent public gallery and started to operate, on a volunteer basis, from
borrowed locations. June 17, 1982, the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery (CRAG) finally opened its doors in a small rented space situated at
107 Pitt Street Promenade and employed a part-time director and staff. June 30, 1986, the Gallery officially moved into its present location that provided more space for a growing membership and audience. ;This year, the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery has an established record of 25 years expanding public access to cultural events and broadening the creative horizons of our Canadian artistic talent.The Cornwalll Regional Art Gallery’s mandate is to establish, own, maintain and operate a public gallery or galleries in the City of Cornwall and in the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry;
•to promote and stimulate interest in and the study of the visual arts;
•to advance knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts;
•to provide improved opportunities for Canadian artistic talent;
•to advance the development of the visual arts in Canada.
Thanks to the City of Cornwall for
