What a Christmas market?

The Christmas Market is an outdoor public place, usually a square or a few streets in a city, which is highlighted everything related to Christmas. Christmas markets are usually organized throughout the month of December. There are small shops with Christmas decor items, local produce or crafts, gifts and something to eat (traditional mulled wine, cinnamon cake, but more recently hot sausages and merguez). The decor of the place is very neat with many lights and Christmas music in surround sound.

The first paper describing a Christmas market is dated 1434 during the reign of Frederick II of Saxony, referring to a "Striezelmarkt" which took place in Dresden on Monday before Christmas. Later, the reform has continued the tradition by renaming it "Christkindlmarkt (Christ Child Market) to fight against the cult of saints

In 1570, the Christmas market itself took place in Strasbourg. It was only after 1990 that this event will take gaits involving commercial attractions and lengthening the period of the event.
